‘Sparring & Pad Work Thursdays’
An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until May 16, 2025
‘Sparring & Pad work Thursdays’ are where we practice in real time the skills and techniques we learned in Tuesday’s class against an opponent or team mate that is firing punches back !
Coach Tom Blackett leads the fitness side of the room doing pad work, bag work and interval type training ideal for burning calories, learning boxing and getting a damn good sweat on !
Sparring is the best and most effective way to learn boxing and truly understand the nature of the sport. These sessions can be pretty demanding and also testing depending on your experience level. If you are new to sparring we generally pair you up with an experienced member so that you can get your bearings and understand the positioning and basic movements without being hurt.
We don’t believe in throwing people into fire without a good understanding of the sport – We look after all new starters and help them progress fully and safely when it comes to sparring – generally starting from jab sparring, straight shots, conditional sparring then finally on to free expression sparring.
All levels are welcome.
